On February 18, the Hai Phong Industry and Trade Trade Union worked with representatives of Tam Cuong Shoe Factory on the recommendation of workers.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Nguyen Cong Hoa - Chairman of the Hai Phong Industry and Trade Union - said that this morning (February 18), representatives of the Law Policy Department of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation and the Tam Cuong Shoe Factory Trade Union worked with the collective work stoppage from the afternoon of February 17.

Previously, at 1:30 p.m. on February 17, after lunch, workers in the City Shaping Department of Tam Cuong Shoe Factory turned off their engines and pulled them onto the yard in front of the factory office to stop working. After that, some workers from other departments in the factory also came to the field to stop working. The rest are still in the workshops.

Through research, workers recommend that businesses increase Lunar New Year bonuses; increase lunchtime and salary bonuses; convert shift meals when workers work overtime into money, the amount is 10,000 VND/person.

After the incident, the enterprise agreed to increase the shift meal allowance from VND 15,000 to VND 23,000 (from February 1, 2025, this amount will be added to the salary of employees. Overtime workers will be supported with meals of VND5,000/person/day.

Regarding Tet bonuses, the company agrees to adjust that employees working at the factory for 7 years or more will receive 1 month of basic salary; the remaining amount is calculated according to the ratio.

However, on the afternoon of February 17, workers had not returned to work.

Also according to the leader of the Hai Phong Industry and Trade Trade Union, in reality, the company's shift meals and Tet bonuses are all implemented in accordance with the previously signed collective labor agreements. However, in response to the recommendations of the workers, the company listened and considered adjusting based on the actual situation.

On the morning of February 18, the company proposed a solution to increase the shift meal allowance by 8,000 VND/meal (in addition to the salary for employees). The company supports meals when workers work overtime at VND6,000/meal (an increase of more than VND1,000/meal compared to the afternoon of February 17). Regarding bonuses, companies that adjust employees working at factories for 3 years or more will receive 1 month of basic salary (instead of 7 years as before); the remaining amount is calculated according to the ratio.

In response to the solution from the enterprise, since this morning, February 18, many workers have stayed at the factory to work and have shift meals at the company.

Tam Cuong Shoes Factory belongs to Dinh Vang Company Limited, located in Nam Am village, Tam Cuong commune, Vinh Bao district. The factory has a total of 2,466 workers, 100% of whom are union members. The average salary of employees is VND 7,500,000/person/month.

Previously, this unit had a collective work stoppage. On March 18, 2022, 2,800 workers stopped working to request support for gasoline, increased shift meals from VND 12,000 to VND 15,000/meal, and supported side meals during overtime. At the same time, the company was required to pay the 13th month salary to employees... After 1 week of work stoppage, the company agreed to a fuel allowance of VND 150,000/month/person, adjusted seniority allowances for workers, and increased the shift allowance by VND 15,000/meal.
