Infrastructure and social security recommendations
On May 24, the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation organized a meeting and dialogue between provincial leaders and workers for the first time in 2026.
According to the program, the conference takes place at Vinh Long Provincial Convention Center with many contents related to life, employment, labor environment, social security and policies for workers in the province.
At the dialogue, many trade union officials, union members and workers raised recommendations related to rights, working conditions, transport infrastructure serving production as well as policies to support workers in difficult circumstances.
Mr. Le Thanh Hai - FAS Co., Ltd. reflected the situation of spontaneous trading encroaching on roads and sidewalks at routes leading to Giao Long Industrial Park, causing congestion during peak hours and potential traffic accident risks for workers.
According to Mr. Hai, the number of motorbikes of workers circulating is very large at the time of dismissal, while the traffic light time at National Highway 57B is still short, and the directions of green lights at the same time make turning into the industrial park dangerous.
Answering the petition, a representative of the Department of Construction said that the main roads leading to Giao Long Industrial Park are not under the management of the unit. Handling the situation of encroachment on roadways and sidewalks is the responsibility of the locality and the route management unit.
The Department of Construction requests the Giao Long Commune People's Committee to coordinate with the Provincial Police and relevant sectors to strengthen propaganda, inspection, and handling of cases of trading encroaching on roads, step by step ensuring order and traffic safety in the area.
Regarding the proposal to repair traffic infrastructure, the Department of Construction said that the section through Giao Long commune has been invested since 2016, part of which will be repaired in 2024, and the remaining part will continue to be monitored and maintained with regular maintenance capital.
For the drainage system in the area in front of the gate of Giao Long Industrial Park, functional agencies have added interconnected culverts in 2024 to handle flooding. According to records, in 2025 this area will no longer experience flooding.
Regarding the content of adjusting the traffic light cycle on National Highway 57B, the Department of Construction proposed that the Provincial Police coordinate with the management unit to consider adjusting it to suit the actual traffic flow, especially during working hours and after-hours for workers.
Besides the issue of transport infrastructure, Ms. Vo Thuy Kieu - a worker at Ty Bach Co., Ltd. expressed concern about the fact that low-income workers still have difficulty accessing social housing because most projects are concentrated in urban areas.
Answering this content, a representative of the Vinh Long branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies said that the unit is implementing a housing loan program under Decree 100/2024/ND-CP to support people to buy, rent, buy, build or repair social housing.
Do not let workers' petitions fall into silence
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi - Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee - said that this is the first dialogue activity after implementing the policy of arranging administrative units and operating the two-level local government model.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi, provincial leaders always understand the difficulties of workers in terms of jobs, income, housing, living expenses, travel conditions, working environment and social security issues in daily life.
Provincial leaders affirmed that economic development must go hand in hand with taking good care of the lives of workers, building a safe, stable, and humane working environment; and at the same time continue to listen to and promptly resolve legitimate recommendations, not allowing the voices of workers to fall into silence.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Be Muoi recorded many opinions at the conference that are very practical, reflecting the true thoughts of workers today. Contents under authority will be directed to be handled promptly, and issues that require time will have a specific roadmap.
On this occasion, provincial leaders and Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation presented 235 gifts to union members who suffered labor accidents, workers in difficult circumstances and supported 3 houses of great solidarity for workers in housing difficulties.
