12 years to have the chance to go home for Tet
Receiving train tickets and Tet gifts from the Trade Union, Ms. Le Thi Binh (from Nghe An) was moved to tears. Ms. Binh said that due to difficult circumstances, she had not returned home for Tet for 12 consecutive years.
"My monthly income is about 8 million VND, just enough to cover my expenses and take care of my children's education. When I received the train ticket from the union, I cried with joy. I haven't told my family in the countryside yet. I planned to surprise them all. I would like to thank the union for creating conditions for me to return to my hometown to reunite with my family," Ms. Binh shared.
Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet (41 years old, from Ha Tinh) has not returned to her hometown for 3 years. Although she misses her children very much, due to financial difficulties, she has had to stay in Binh Duong during Tet for many years to save money.
"I have 2 children. For the past 3 years, I have been working in Binh Duong, but I have never returned home to visit my children because my income is only enough to cover my limited living expenses. During the time I was away from home, I missed my children very much. I could not return home, so every year I could only see them through the phone. Today, receiving a free train ticket from the union to return home, I am extremely moved and grateful to the union for helping my children and I reunite during Tet," said Ms. Tuyet.
