Attending the conference were Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of Nghe An province; Ms. Vo Thi Minh Sinh - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province; Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor; Mr. Tran Nhat Minh - Full-time National Assembly Delegate of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly; and representatives of relevant departments, branches and sectors.
Also attending the conference were 200 workers and laborers working at enterprises with grassroots unions under the Labor Federations of Nghi Loc, Nam Dan, Vinh city districts, and the Southeast Economic Zone Trade Union.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor Kha Van Tam said that Nghe An currently has 13,000 operating enterprises with 230,000 workers, ranking 9th in the country and 2nd in the North Central region. Of which, there are nearly 188,000 union members, with nearly 100,000 union members being workers, this is a force that has greatly contributed to the socio-economic development achievements of the province.
This meeting with voters is an opportunity for National Assembly deputies to grasp more of the thoughts and aspirations of workers, to have a basis for synthesizing and reflecting to the National Assembly, relevant agencies and organizations to research, develop, amend, supplement and perfect policies and laws for workers to ensure feasibility and practicality in order to care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers.
At the meeting, the XV National Assembly delegates of Nghe An province informed voters about the content and program of the 8th Session of the XV National Assembly.
During the session, the National Assembly will consider, comment on, and approve a number of draft laws and many important contents, including the draft Trade Union Law and the draft Employment Law (amended).
The conference received 13 questions from voters, focusing on groups of issues such as: Protecting the rights of workers with silicosis at Chau Tien Company; protecting the rights of union officials at FDI enterprises; appropriate payroll management mechanism in the Trade Union Law (amended); Proposing the National Assembly to amend the law to allow workers to pay and receive unemployment benefits for the period of social insurance payment of over 144 months; Proposing the National Assembly to consider regulating appropriate payroll management mechanisms in the Trade Union Law (amended), increasing the initiative of unions in arranging union officials, etc.
Leaders of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, leaders of relevant departments, agencies and sectors listened to and answered questions and aspirations of workers and laborers in the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An Province Thai Thanh Quy answered a number of major issues of concern to workers. At the same time, he said that the National Assembly Delegation of the province will fully synthesize the opinions of voters to send to competent authorities.
On this occasion, the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Nghe An province and leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor presented gifts to workers in difficult circumstances.
