In the afternoon of March 12, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Confederation, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour chaired a meeting between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour and the press.
Attending were leaders and reporters of newspapers and radio stations inside and outside the Trade Union system.
Over 12 million turns of union members, workers and relatives benefited from the care activities of the Trade Union
Providing information about the care activities for the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Thai Thu Xuong said that by the end of February 15, 2026, the whole country had over 12 million turns of union members, workers and relatives benefiting from the care activities of the Trade Union organization.
In which, trade union financial resources are 6,960 billion VND, calling for socialization to support funds to care for union members and workers is 1,265 billion VND (accounting for 15.4%). The General Confederation level spends 195 billion VND; provincial, city, industry and equivalent levels spend 2,128 billion VND; grassroots level spends 4,637 billion VND.
The activities to care for the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 have been effectively implemented by trade union levels, ensuring the spirit of the Secretariat's direction and the motto "All union members and workers have Tet, celebrate Tet", meeting the requirements set out for activities to care for union members and workers during the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, contributing to the good implementation of social security policies, stabilizing labor relations in general and during Tet in particular.
The 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2026 - 2031, takes place in 2026.
Also at the meeting, some key tasks for 2026 were informed to the press.
Accordingly, 2026 is the year to organize the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2026 - 2031; the first year to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress; preliminary review of 5 years of implementing Resolution 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovating the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation".
Therefore, Trade Union activities focus on 5 key tasks, including: Successfully organizing the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress to ensure progress and quality; Focusing on developing union members, establishing grassroots trade unions; perfecting the organizational model of the apparatus, building a team of trade union officials; actively participating in building a clean and strong party and government; Effectively performing tasks, representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights of union members and workers through activities; Promoting propaganda and mobilization of union members and workers and the communication work of the Trade Union organization; Launching emulation to celebrate and bring the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress, and the Vietnam Trade Union Congress into life.
In 2026, the General Confederation will organize 8 key events and activities, including: the 14th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, expected to be held at the end of May 2026; Launching Workers' Month - Action Month for occupational safety and health. expected at the end of April 2026; Commemorating the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st, expected to be held at the end of April 2026; Preliminary review of 5 years of implementing Conclusion 01-KL/TW of the Politburo, commending advanced examples of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style, expected in May 2026; Commending typical grassroots trade union presidents in dialogue, negotiation, and signing of collective labor agreements, expected in April 2026; Commending typical families of workers, civil servants and laborers nationwide, expected in June 2026; Vinh quang Vietnam Program, expected in July 2026; Fourth Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, expected in May - July 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized that although the Trade Union organization has had major changes in organization in the past year, the team of trade union officials has made great efforts to complete their tasks, representing, protecting and caring for union members and workers. "The activities of the Trade Union organization are recognized by union members, workers and society in a not small part with the attention and information of press agencies" - Vice Chairman Ngo Duy Hieu said.
