Orders increase, but labor shortage
Since the beginning of 2024, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang City has organized a total of 4 "job fair" sessions. Of which, 2 sessions were held at 2 universities and 2 sessions in 2 districts to introduce to demobilized soldiers and workers in the city.
In addition, there are weekly job fairs connecting 3 locations. However, many businesses participating in job fairs and looking for workers find it difficult to find workers.
At the "Job Fair for Demobilized Soldiers and Workers in Lien Chieu District in 2024" held on September 28, many businesses could not find workers.
According to a representative of Murata Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd., this unit wishes to recruit and introduce jobs for 200 general workers, 20 technical staff, and 5 purchasing staff.
“It is expected that from now until the end of the year, Murata Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd. will have an increase in orders, however, the number of workers recruited is low. During the job fair, workers come to see information about the company, salary, and job before deciding whether to accept the job or not, so the recruitment efficiency is not as high as expected,” said a representative of Murata Manufacturing Vietnam Co., Ltd.
Previously, Mr. Huynh Nhat Huy, General Director of VAFI Company Limited, made a recommendation at the conference "Removing difficulties and obstacles for enterprises" organized by the Management Board of High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks of Da Nang City (July 23): "In the first 6 months of the year, we encountered many difficulties in recruitment. On the business side, we have reviewed and checked whether the company's welfare regimes are suitable for employees or not? However, we see that employees often ask for leave for reasons of returning to their hometowns or other reasons."
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - Deputy Director of Daiwa Da Nang Company Limited - also stated that compared to the past, recruiting unskilled workers is currently facing difficulties.
“In 2024, Daiwa Da Nang Co., Ltd. will increase its productivity by 30%, so we need to recruit 300 unskilled workers. However, in the first 6 months of the year, Daiwa Da Nang Co., Ltd. still could not recruit workers,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Phu.
Thousands of jobs are waiting for workers
At the “Job Fair for Demobilized Soldiers and Workers in Lien Chieu District in 2024” recently held, 86 businesses registered to recruit workers, with a need to recruit 6,214 workers. Of which, nearly 300 workers had university and college degrees, the rest were intermediate and elementary level workers, technical workers and unskilled workers in a variety of industries and occupations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang City, creating jobs for workers, laborers, and demobilized soldiers is a major policy of the city, ensuring social justice in employment opportunities. From there, helping demobilized soldiers and laborers have the opportunity to research and seek job opportunities, ensuring income and life.
“We hope that at the festival, demobilized soldiers and workers in the city will have access to businesses and employers. Workers will be advised on job search skills, have the opportunity to interview for jobs and can find suitable jobs for themselves. Businesses will also be able to recruit workers with the appropriate skills and expertise for the job positions they are looking to fill,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam.
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang City, the Da Nang Employment Service Center has provided job consultation and introduction for workers at 3 locations: 278 Au Co, 657 Truong Chinh and 21 Phan Chau Trinh every Friday.
