Workers can live well on their own salary.
Mr. Le Anh Hung - Chairman of the Dak Lak Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Trade Union informed that the Government's issuance of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP (stipulating the basic salary and bonus regime for cadres, civil servants, public employees and armed forces) and Decree 74/2024/ND-CP (stipulating the minimum wage for employees working under labor contracts) has brought much excitement to union members.
According to Mr. Hung, in reality, many cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers of the Dak Lak Provincial Agriculture and Rural Development Trade Union are in quite difficult circumstances, especially at forestry companies. Their working environment is quite unique, with long distance travel and health damage... The new salary level applied after July 1, 2024 has helped workers in the industry increase their income to take care of their families and work with peace of mind. In remote areas with difficult travel, the salary increase will help cadres, civil servants, and public employees stay at the base and feel secure in completing their assigned tasks.
“The industry union will also reallocate resources in 2025 to implement more social welfare programs, taking care of employees and workers in difficult circumstances. In general, after the salary increase on July 1, 2024, the lives of many employees and workers have improved significantly,” Mr. Hung added.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Vice President of the Gia Lai Provincial Federation of Labor - shared: "It is a fact that needs to be acknowledged that, before July 1, 2024, the basic salary of most officials, workers and civil servants in the area was quite low, they had to struggle to make ends meet and take care of their monthly living expenses. Many civil servants and civil servants have difficult family circumstances, sick children, rent houses... With a salary of 6 to 7 million VND/month, they have to tighten their monthly living expenses.
Save for children's education
Ms. Phan Thi Kieu Hanh - Deputy Head of the Ia Puch Protective Forest Management Board, Gia Lai Province - said: “I myself am a forest ranger at the border, receiving the information about the salary increase, I and many other staff members are very happy and excited. In difficult economic times, whether the salary increase is small or large, it is an encouragement and motivation for employees to feel secure in their work, striving to complete their assigned tasks. Because, the work of forest protection is still facing many difficulties and hardships, some people travel dozens of kilometers to monitor and protect the forest every week.
According to Ms. Hanh, Decree 73/2024/ND-CP and Decree 74/2024/ND-CP have come into effect, the salaries of most union members and workers in all industries have increased. Especially, for the education and forestry industries, it is even more meaningful. Because the people working in the above two industries are quite special, previously the salary was too low, causing many people to worry, quit their jobs to find other jobs to make a living. Now that the salary has increased, many people have stayed at the base, accepting to be far from home (areas belonging to region III, region IV - PV) to earn more income and take care of their families.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Phong - a member of Phuoc An Forestry Company (Dak Lak province) shared: “I am eligible for a salary increase according to Decree 74/2024/ND-CP. In fact, the lives of employees working at the unit in particular and the entire forestry company in Dak Lak province in general are quite difficult. In recent years, the production and business activities of the enterprise have encountered many difficulties, leading to the lives of employees being affected. With the increase in the minimum monthly salary and the minimum hourly wage, we are entitled to an additional increase of about 1.5 million VND/month. This amount of money helps reduce the cost of gasoline, food and drink to save for our children's education."
