Joy in the house "Union Shelter"
Lunar New Year 2025 is a special year for Mr. Le Nhu Y, a worker at Dak Man Vietnam Co., Ltd.
Unlike previous years, this year his family celebrated Tet in a solid house, no longer crowded in a dilapidated, leaky house every time it rained.
With more than 15 years of working as a factory worker, Mr. Y has struggled to raise two young children and take care of his elderly mother. Meanwhile, his wife does not have a stable job.
Thanks to the support of the trade union and relatives, in July 2024, he completed the repair of his house at a total cost of 130 million VND. Of which, the trade union supported 30 million VND.
"My biggest dream in life is to have a solid house so that I can work with peace of mind, take care of my wife and children, and support my elderly mother. Celebrating Tet in the newly renovated house, my family and I feel extremely warm and happy," Mr. Y shared.
Sharing the same joy, Mr. Chu Van An - a member of the Cu Kuin District Medical Center is also eagerly preparing to celebrate Tet in his newly built house. During the holidays, he takes advantage of the time to buy furniture and decorate his family's home.
"My family used to be very poor, and I worked far away, so my income was just enough to cover my living expenses. Thanks to the union's support of 50 million VND, I was able to build a house," An said emotionally.
Mr. An's family's home will be completed in July 2024. The total construction cost is about 200 million VND. This year is the first time Mr. An's family celebrates Tet with joy and excitement.
The new houses not only provide shelter from the rain and sun, but also provide motivation for union members and workers to work with peace of mind and build a stable life.
According to the Dak Lak Provincial Federation of Labor, in 2024, trade unions at all levels have successfully implemented the "Trade Union Shelter" program.
The units have supported the construction and repair of 127 “Union Shelters” for union members with difficult housing circumstances. The total support cost is over 5.67 billion VND.
Supporting members to settle down and have a successful career
Mr. Le Van Thanh - Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial Labor Federation - said that the "Union Shelter" program is a testament to the important role of trade unions in caring for union members and workers.
Those who receive support are all families in difficult circumstances and have not yet settled down.
According to Mr. Thanh, owning a solid house is the dream of many members in difficult circumstances. When they have a stable place to live, they will feel secure in their work and complete their assigned tasks.
"The program also creates a close connection between workers and trade unions. From there, it promotes the creative labor movement and sustainable development in agencies and businesses," said Mr. Thanh.
In 2025, trade unions at all levels in the province aim to support funding for the construction and repair of 100 “Union Shelters” houses. Thereby, helping union members with difficult housing circumstances to gradually stabilize their lives.
