Nearly 42,000 workers apply for unemployment benefits in Dong Nai

HÀ ANH CHIẾN |

Dong Nai - Since the beginning of 2024, nearly 42,000 workers have applied for unemployment benefits with an amount of nearly 1,300 billion VND.

On October 15, according to information from Dong Nai Employment Service Center, in September 2024, 3,235 workers applied for unemployment benefits.

Since the beginning of 2024, 41,860 workers have applied for unemployment benefits, with unemployment benefits paid at nearly VND 1,300 billion.

In terms of the implementation of unemployment insurance, in the 4 years from 2020 to 2023, 241,475 workers have applied for unemployment insurance. Of which, 65,943 people applied in 2020, 44,439 people applied in 2021, 64,278 people applied in 2022, and 66,815 people applied in 2023.

According to Dong Nai Employment Service Center, the number of people applying for unemployment benefits and the number of people receiving unemployment benefits increased, leading to a trend of unemployment insurance payments increasing year after year.

Among them, the proportion of workers aged 24-40 receiving unemployment benefits is high, this is a group of workers with work experience, good health and dynamism. Therefore, the trend of job change of this group is higher than other age groups, leading to a higher rate of unemployment benefits of this age group.

Female workers lose their jobs more than male workers, mainly in the 24-40 age group due to the limited job options in the labor market, and some fields where female workers cannot participate...

In addition, accumulated over 4 years from 2020 - 2023, this center has also provided job consultation and referral to 252,181 people.

Mr. Nong Van Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province said that currently the labor force in Dong Nai province is about 1.3 million people.

From now until the end of 2024, a list of nearly 1,500 businesses registering to recruit workers shows that the demand is from 15,000 to 18,000 workers. However, it is forecasted that the province can only supply about 30%, because workers move from one company to another, while workers from other regions are very few.

"We have linked up with other regions such as the Central Highlands and the Southwest to recruit, but the number they introduced is not enough," Mr. Dung added.
