As of February 11, about 161,000 enterprises in Hanoi have reopened production and business activities (accounting for 99.38%) with 2.08 million workers returning to work, reaching 99.04% of the total number of workers in the city.

Recruiting many unskilled workers

Ms. Phan Thi Nhu Hoa - Head of Human Resources Administration Department, Viet A Production, Trade and Service Company Limited (Vinaconex 2 Urban Area, Hoang Mai District) - said that to serve production needs, the company has been recruiting dozens of job positions before Tet but until now it has not recruited enough.

My company has recruited 40 unskilled workers, 2 accountants, and 5 sales staff before Tet, but it was not until February 12 that it had recruited 24 unskilled workers and 2 sales staff. In addition to posting recruitment on the company's website, we also sent information to the Hanoi City Employment Service Center to find more sources of candidates," said Ms. Hoa.

Also having a need to recruit unskilled workers, Mr. Tran Dinh Hoa - Director of Hoa Thanh Food Company (Van Khe Ward, Ha Dong District) said that the company has expanded production so it has recruited 50 more workers who are sales staff and kitchen staff. "We have been recruiting for 1 week now but only have 14 applications submitted. It is expected that if there are not enough recruitments in the next week, the company will rely on search services, said Mr. Hoa.

According to information from the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in January 2025, the city created jobs for 6,889 workers from budget capital; 1,374 workers had jobs after participating in the session, job fair; 211 workers were created jobs through labor export; 1,634 workers were created jobs through the provision of employment services of enterprises; 9,256 workers were created jobs through other forms.

In January 2025, the Hanoi Employment Service Center organized 22 job fairs with 751 participating units and enterprises; the total recruitment and enrollment demand was 10,972 people; 4,008 workers were interviewed and 1,374 people were recruited at the session.

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center Vu Quang Thanh said that the recruitment demand has increased and accounted for the largest proportion in the unskilled labor group; the groups of highly qualified human resources and senior managers have recruited few. This is understandable because the market developments are basically the same every year. In addition, the rate of recruiting highly qualified or highly qualified managers is also lower because in enterprises, dozens, even hundreds of workers only need a few managers, said Mr. Thanh.

Need to recruit 100,000 - 120,000 targets

In Hanoi, the demand for labor recruitment in the labor market in the first quarter of 2025 is about 100,000 - 120,000 targets, focusing on a variety of industries such as trade, services, green economy, digital transformation, information technology, catering services, real estate, logistics delivery and transportation... The 2025 job market needs many job positions, however, these positions will mainly focus on certain industries due to the shift in labor structure.

Notably, in 2025, a large number of workers from public service units will join the private sector labor market after implementing the plan to reorganize and streamline the State apparatus, said Mr. Vu Quang Thanh.

Speaking with Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Nguyen Tay Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hanoi City said that according to reports from districts, towns and cities, as of 10:00 a.m. on February 11, 2024, about 161,000 enterprises have reopened production and business activities (accounting for 99.38%) with 2.08 million workers returning to work, reaching 99.04% of the total number of workers in the city.

According to the latest report of the Hanoi Employment Service Center, the total number of units and enterprises with recruitment needs is 248 units with 7,325 targets, focusing on the following industry groups: Trade - services; restaurants - hotels; supermarkets; manufacturing industry groups (electricity - electronics production; mechanics; garments). By qualifications, the recruitment demand for workers with college - university degrees or higher: 1,361 workers; workers with intermediate qualifications - technical workers: 859 workers; workers with high school graduation: 5,105 workers.
