For workers with housing difficulties, the dream of having a place to settle down for the whole family sometimes becomes too distant. However, the Trade Union Shelter program has lit up hope and realized that dream.
Ms. Cao Thuy Quyen in Chau Thanh district, Tra Vinh province said that she has struggled for nearly 10 years in a cramped rented room in Tra Vinh city, where the family of 4 was gathered in a few square meters.
According to Ms. Quyen, with a small salary of workers, she and her husband raise young children and take care of both elderly father and mother, so they can only cover their daily expenses and do not dare to dream of having their own house.
"Living in a rented house for so many years, while worrying about renting a house, is a hundred-faced inconvenience. Now that I have this house, I am so happy that I cry. This is not only a place to live but also a great motivation for me to try harder in life, to give my children a better future," Ms. Quyen added.

Sharing the same emotion, Mr. Huynh Minh Trung - Trade Union of Duc My commune, Cang Long district said that he used to live in a dilapidated house, every time it rained, the whole family had to run to find a dry place.
"The dream of a healthy house without any more dilapidation has finally come true. The Union Shelter helps my family stabilize our lives, a safe place to live, and no longer have to worry about storms and floods," Mr. Trung added.
Talking to Lao Dong, Ms. Tran Thi Kim Chung - President of Tra Vinh Provincial Federation of Labor - shared: "This is one of the key tasks, demonstrating the deep concern and responsibility of the Trade Union organization for union members and workers with especially difficult housing circumstances".
According to Ms. Chung, from the beginning of 2025 to now, with the efforts of the entire system, 21 Trade Union Shelters have been donated with an amount of more than 1 billion VND, helping many families stabilize their lives.

A solid roof is not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also a foundation for workers to work with peace of mind and stick with their homeland.
With that spirit, the Tra Vinh Provincial Federation of Labor has been continuing to implement and strive to complete the target of 75 Trade Union Shelters in 2025, continuing to realize the dream of settling down for a large number of Tra Vinh workers.
"Union Shelters not only bring joy to each family but also contribute to beautifying the picture of social security in Tra Vinh province, affirming the role of the Union organization in accompanying and sharing with workers", added the Chairman of the Tra Vinh Provincial Federation of Labor.
