15th Anniversary Conference of the "Better Jobs" Program

Quang Ninh - On the afternoon of October 4, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) held a conference to survey 15 years of implementing the "Better Jobs" Program.

Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - Mr. Phan Van Anh - chaired the conference. Attending the conference were representatives of leaders and officials of specialized departments on Labor Relations, along with representatives of grassroots trade unions and the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union.

The conference to survey 15 years of implementing activities participating in the "Better Jobs" Program of trade unions at all levels in the provinces and cities in the Northern region was held in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province.

The "Better Jobs" program for the period 2023 - 2027 is implemented under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Ministry of Labor, War invalids and Social Affairs, the Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry, the International Labor Organization and the International Finance Corporation.

The program aims to ensure the rights and improve working conditions for union members and employees, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, while supporting the sustainable development of participating businesses.

The program aims to enhance the capacity and effectiveness of trade unions at all levels, especially grassroots trade unions, in implementing workplace dialogue mechanisms, collective bargaining, receiving workers' feedback, and resolving labor disputes.

At the conference, delegates were informed about the Plan to summarize 15 years of implementing the "Better Jobs" program of trade unions at all levels (2009-2024).

Provincial and municipal Labor Federations also reported on the implementation of the "Better Jobs" Program in their localities.

The conference emphasized the need to ensure unity in the direction and organization of activities of trade unions at all levels. Higher-level trade unions will continue to promote their role in supporting grassroots trade unions to participate in the program, while ensuring regular communication from the grassroots level to the provincial and central levels, to unify the awareness and implementation methods of the program throughout the system.

At the end of the conference, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Phan Van Anh requested that provincial and municipal labor federations continue to survey the implementation of activities participating in the "Better Jobs" Program at the grassroots level. Survey reports must be sent to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor before October 31, 2024.
