Ba Ria - Vung Tau - After the fire, more than 2,000 workers of Chang Chun Vina Company Limited in An Ngai Industrial Park had to temporarily stop working.

On October 7, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with the Long Dien District Party Committee and People's Committee to visit and encourage enterprises in the An Ngai Industrial Cluster that had a major fire on the night of October 6.

The fire broke out on the night of October 6 at factory No. 3, covering an area of ​​over 7,600 square meters, of Chang Chun Vina Co., Ltd. (operating in the field of leather shoe production). When the fire department received the information and approached the scene, the fire had spread over an area of ​​over 3,000 square meters.

Realizing the large fire, almost all fire fighting units were mobilized to support, by about 22:15, the fire was completely controlled.

Reporting to the working group, a representative of Chang Chun Vina Company Limited said that the burned area was the company’s warehouse, containing a large amount of raw materials and machinery. Currently, the authorities are still cutting off the electricity, taking samples to clarify the cause of the fire and calculating the damage.

"We hope to quickly overcome the consequences so that we can continue operating. Because the raw materials have been damaged, there will be an impact, but we will find a way to share orders from other factories so that workers will have jobs when they resume operations," a representative of Chang Chun Vina Company shared during the meeting.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Chung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Chang Chun Vina Company - said that when the incident occurred on the evening of October 6, the company informed employees to take a day off on October 7. At the same time, the Board of Directors is also holding a meeting to review programs and plans for the coming days.

"Currently, the unit is experiencing a power outage and is coordinating with authorities to clarify the cause of the fire, as well as review safety at the facility. In the immediate future, more than 2,000 workers will have to temporarily stop working while authorities investigate the cause of the fire," Mr. Chung informed.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Chau Trinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor, and Mr. Vo Huu Hanh - Deputy Secretary of Long Dien District Party Committee also visited and encouraged the enterprise, hoping that the enterprise and workers would soon overcome difficulties and continue production activities.

According to Mr. Trinh, in the immediate future, businesses need to pay attention to not let workers encounter difficulties when they have to temporarily stop working. In case of necessity, the Trade Union will accompany and support workers.

"If there is any need for support, businesses should boldly propose to local authorities for consideration. Local authorities, together with trade unions at all levels, will accompany businesses to help them overcome problems and return to normal operations soon," said Mr. Vo Huu Hanh.
