At the 15th Conference of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, chaired by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Party Secretary, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong presented a Report on the draft report on the results of trade union activities in 2025, Trade Union work program in 2026.
One of the notable contents is that the Trade Unions at all levels proactively mobilized resources and took care of union members and workers comprehensively, typically organizing creative activities to care for the Lunar New Year 2025 with more than 13 million union members and workers being cared for; joining hands to share and support union members and workers affected by storms, floods, and natural disasters; organizing more than 5,000 union meals nationwide...
In particular, the General Confederation of Labor is restructured into 2 direct advisory committees: the Trade Union Work Committee and the Labor Relations Committee; the provincial level has 49 committees, the central industry trade union has 17 units. The number of established commune, ward and special zone trade unions reached 532/699; public service units decreased from 12 to 7, vocational training institutions decreased from 19 to 9. The direction of organizing trade union congresses at all levels has been carried out and the trade union congresses at the commune, ward and special zone levels have been completed; focus on organizing grassroots trade union congresses, provincial and sectoral trade unions to ensure progress and quality; actively prepare the working contents of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.
Another highlight of 2025 is that the Trade Union participates in giving opinions on building a Constitution, amending and supplementing the Trade Union Law in accordance with the model of organizing the apparatus after the reorganization; promoting role and responsibility in participating in the National Wage Council, proposing that the Government increase the regional minimum wage from January 1, 2026 with an average increase of 7.2%, contributing to narrowing the gap between the minimum wage and the standard of living; researching and coordinating the proposal to issue policies to support subjects affected by the reorganization of the apparatus and administrative units at all levels, including trade union officials, ensuring the rights and stabilizing the lives of workers...
Regarding the trade union work program in 2026, the Proposal clearly states that in 2026 - the year of the 14th Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, term 2026 - 2031; the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Party, Resolution of the First National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; summarizing 5 years of implementing Resolution 02-NQ/TW dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Innovation of organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation". The theme of activities in 2026 is determined: "Promoting innovation; concretizing, bringing the Resolution of the Party Congress, the Fatherland Front, and the Trade Union into life".
