Owed wages but still on duty
Khanh Vinh Regional Medical Center (old Khanh Vinh District) is one of the typical medical units in the locality that have encountered unpaid wages for staff and workers at medical facilities. This is a public health service unit under the Department of Health. This unit implements the financial autonomy mechanism. The center includes 4 specialized departments, 9 faculties, 14 medical stations and 2 general clinics.
Talking to Lao Dong reporter, Dr. Tran Anh Hoan (name changed) - working at Khanh Vinh Regional Medical Center - confirmed that the Center recently owed 2 months' salary to many doctors and nurses. The delay in paying salaries has made the already difficult lives of medical staff even more difficult.
Doctor Tran Anh Hoan shared that doctors and nurses still try to stay to ensure medical examination and treatment for people in remote areas, even though their family life is severely affected.
For nearly two months now, Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen (name changed) working at Khanh Vinh Regional Medical Center has not received any salary. Every day, she still regularly goes to work and see a doctor for people in the highlands, but her worries about food and clothing and school fees continue to be a burden. "We have to borrow money from friends for living expenses and gas. Sometimes I just hope to get my salary early so I won't feel afraid when I go to work" - this female doctor shared.
Faced with the above reality, the health sector of Khanh Hoa province has reviewed and proposed a plan to allocate funds to promptly pay salaries, ensure legitimate rights for workers and maintain the operations of grassroots health facilities.
Mr. Le Van Khoa - Director of the Department of Health of Khanh Hoa province - confirmed that, through the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, the health sector has proactively reviewed and arranged a source to promptly pay 2 months' salary to doctors and nurses at the Khanh Vinh Regional Medical Center.
General review of salary debt situation in Khanh Hoa province
Regarding the above incident, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Khac Toan assigned the Department of Finance to consider the Department of Health's proposal to supplement the collection of insufficient funds to cover expenses in 2025 for Khanh Vinh Regional Medical Center.
The Department of Finance then appraises the estimate, determines the funding source and advises the Provincial People's Committee to resolve it in accordance with regulations.
According to the leaders of Khanh Hoa province, in recent times, a number of public health service units in the province, especially in mountainous areas, have experienced slow payment of salaries to medical staff, affecting the lives of workers and medical examination and treatment activities.
To promptly overcome and ensure legitimate rights for the health sector, the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance and relevant agencies and units to urgently inspect and review all public health units in the province on the situation of salary payment, allowances and related regimes from July 2025 to present.
In particular, the Chairman of Khanh Hoa province requested the health sector to determine the reasons for the delay in payment, assess the financial capacity and autonomy mechanisms of each unit, propose specific handling plans; report and advise the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province.
