Recently, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation received a letter of thanks from workers at Trang Due Industrial Park. Previously, workers at Trang Due Industrial Park reported to the City Labor Federation about the seriously degraded road condition at the foot of Tram Bac Bridge connecting to Trang Due Industrial Park. The road surface has many potholes, and on rainy days it forms large puddles, making it difficult for workers to move through. Notably, the degraded road has led to a number of traffic accidents involving workers.
Based on the feedback from workers, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation issued Official Letter No. 519/LDLD-CSPL&QHLD requesting the Hai Phong City People's Committee to direct relevant departments and branches to conduct the earliest inspection of the current status of the road surface from the foot of Tram Bac Bridge to Trang Due Industrial Park to have a plan to repair and overcome road surface damage, ensuring traffic safety for workers.
After a short time, the road has been repaired, making the workers' way to the industrial park more convenient and safer. In addition to this incident, from the beginning of 2024 to now, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation has received and processed 7 complaints about social insurance, maternity benefits, illegal termination of labor contracts, wages, Tet bonuses, and salaries. The Hai Phong City Labor Federation hotline 1800.888864 answered 380 cases online and directly consulted 8 cases. The main contents focused on the areas of social insurance regimes, allowances when terminating labor contracts, implementing democracy at the workplace, working hours, rest hours, etc. In particular, the Economic Zone Labor Union received, provided legal advice, and answered more than 60 cases of workers regarding termination of labor contracts, salary increases, Tet bonuses, and wages for stopping work during storms, etc.
Expanding the channel to listen to workers
According to Mr. Vu Thanh Son - Propaganda Department of Women's Union of Hai Phong City Labor Federation, in addition to maintaining the hotline 1800.888864, Hai Phong City Labor Union at all levels flexibly uses channels to receive, advise, and answer the thoughts and aspirations of workers related to the regime, benefits as well as issues in life. Thereby, promptly responding and requesting the city to direct competent agencies to resolve workers' petitions according to their authority. Many issues reported by workers have been resolved so far, strengthening workers' trust in the government and the Trade Union organization.
Trade unions at all levels also focus on disseminating and improving legal knowledge for union members and employees. In 2024, Thuy Nguyen Labor Federation disseminated the law to workers in boarding houses, Hai Phong Economic Zone Labor Union organized 38 concentrated propaganda sessions for 9,425 employees... To specify the action program to implement the Resolution of the 13th Congress of Vietnam Trade Union and the 15th Congress of City Trade Union on "Promoting communication work of Hai Phong Trade Union in the period of 2023-2028", Hai Phong City Labor Federation piloted the production and broadcasting of the Trade Union Communication program "With workers" on digital technology platforms, Hai Phong Trade Union website 2 issues/month, attracting tens of thousands of visits from union members and employees.
In addition, trade unions at all levels focus on implementing grassroots democracy regulations through dialogue activities, labor conferences, and directing grassroots trade unions to establish suggestion boxes and hotlines to receive feedback from workers. Thereby, promptly resolving workers' concerns and recommendations from the grassroots level, maintaining harmonious and stable labor relations in units and enterprises.
