Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Mr. Le Cao Thang - Director of the Institute of Strategy and Policy of the Fatherland Front, along with representatives of leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ninh Binh province, leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation, leaders of departments, agencies, branches of Ninh Binh province and more than 500 workers in industrial parks and clusters in Ninh Binh province.
This is an event in a series of annual activities jointly implemented by the Ministry of Health and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, aimed at raising awareness of union members and workers about the harmful effects of tobacco, and at the same time spreading the building of a smoke-free working environment.

This year, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour assigned the Ninh Binh Provincial Confederation of Labour to coordinate with the Fatherland Front Strategy and Policy Institute to organize a rally to respond to the National No Tobacco Week. The program was held at the Party Committee hall of Gia Tran commune, Ninh Binh province.
According to warnings from the World Health Organization - WHO, tobacco is the cause of many dangerous diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes... killing more than 8 million people worldwide each year. More worryingly, new generation nicotine products are being promoted with "modern covers", gradually creeping in and having negative impacts on young people, including many workers.
Faced with this situation, the World Health Organization has issued an action message for World No Tobacco Day 2026: "Unmasking artificial attractiveness - Action to push back nicotine and tobacco addiction".

The meeting aims to raise awareness of workers, the responsibility of trade union levels and employers in implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms. The core objective is to build a green, clean, safe, smoke-free working environment at agencies, units, and businesses; protect the health of workers themselves and the community.
At the meeting, 100 gifts from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, each worth 1 million VND, were presented to union members and workers in difficult circumstances in industrial zones and clusters in Ninh Binh province.
