On the morning of December 9, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held a training conference to disseminate the Trade Union Law, the Employment Law and collect opinions on the draft Decree detailing a number of articles of the Trade Union Law.
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - attended and directly conveyed the content at the conference.
The conference was directly attended by leaders and officials in charge of legal policies and labor relations of 17 units including the Hanoi City Labor Federation and 16 central and equivalent industry unions, corporation unions under the General Confederation.
The online event was attended by representatives of standing representatives, legal and labor relations officers and representatives of grassroots trade unions of some large enterprises of 17 provincial and municipal labor federations from Ha Tinh to the North.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized that the Trade Union Law is a foundational law, orientation, and regulation on the functions, tasks, organization, rights, responsibilities, and activities of trade union organizations.
"This is a very meaningful law for those working in trade unions. Therefore, it is necessary to have a firm grasp to better perform the task of representing and caring for the protection of workers' rights," Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized.
According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, union officials have the task of representing and protecting labor rights. To represent and protect, union officials must have a firm grasp of the "weapon", that is the law. Therefore, a firm grasp of the law is a condition to protect workers. Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that, in the face of an incident, in the face of a situation, if we do not know what is right or wrong, we will not be able to protect the workers.
"Therefore, a firm grasp of the Trade Union Law is a very important condition to better protect the rights and interests of workers," Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu emphasized.
Referring to the 2025 Employment Law, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that in the current context, employment is very rich and diverse. In addition to traditional jobs such as garment workers, mechanical workers, etc., many new types of jobs have appeared, such as technology drivers. Currently in Vietnam, this labor force has about 1 million people, if not cared about, when retired, it will raise a huge social security problem...
Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that due to changes and development of technology, jobs are getting richer and richer, the demands, methods, forms, and organization of jobs are also different. Therefore, according to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, the study of these laws is very important to contribute to raising awareness and especially orienting and suggesting policies for workers.
At the conference, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu presented new contents of the 2024 Trade Union Law (amended and supplemented in 2025). A representative of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) presented the 2025 Law on Employment, emphasizing new points of the 2025 Law on Employment.
