According to Mr. Bui Duy Ngoc - Human Resources Director of Bien Dong Group (Ngoc Ha ward, Hanoi City), in many businesses, previous office jobs such as data entry, document storage, paper processing or administrative support are gradually being replaced by management software and automation systems. These technologies have the ability to process data quickly, accurately and operate continuously without needing many personnel.
Mr. Ngoc said that before the development of technology, many businesses are adjusting their personnel structure towards being more streamlined. Purely supportive positions tend to decrease, while the demand for jobs requiring high professional skills or creativity is increasing.
Instead of recruiting many paper processing staff, businesses currently prioritize positions that have the ability to analyze data, manage technology systems, develop products or build business strategies. This makes the office labor market more competitive, especially for workers who have not had time to update new skills. At Bien Dong Group, we are promoting digital transformation in management activities, from electronic contract signing, data storage on digital platforms to organizing online meetings. These changes help save operating costs but also reduce the demand for some traditional office positions," Mr. Ngoc said.
Ms. Nguy Ngoc Anh - office specialist of a logistics group in Hoan Kiem ward (Hanoi) shared that for 1 year now, she clearly feels the change when the workload may not decrease, but the way of performing work has changed compared to before when many processes were automated.
I have to improve many existing skills, from office informatics to AI skills because I feel this trend will continue to take place strongly in the coming time. As technology develops more and more, jobs that are repetitive or heavily dependent on processes will continue to shrink, if I don't upgrade myself, the risk of losing my job is very high," Ms. Ngoc Anh shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - former Director of the Institute of Labor Science and Social Affairs assessed that although digital transformation has caused some traditional office jobs to disappear, it has also created many new job opportunities. This shows that the labor market is not simply losing jobs but is in the process of shifting to fields with higher added value.
Faced with the rapid changes in the labor market, training and improving skills for workers is a key factor. Training programs need to focus on digital skills, technology use skills and analytical thinking. In addition, workers also need to actively learn and update new knowledge to adapt to the changing working environment. Lifelong learning is considered an inevitable trend in the context of rapid technological development. On the business side, digital transformation needs to be accompanied by a human resource development strategy, including retraining or improving skills for existing employees. This not only helps businesses make good use of human resources but also minimizes the negative impacts of the technological change process," Ms. Huong stated her point of view.
