Quang Ninh - Trade unions at all levels have organized many practical activities to care for the lives of employees, especially women, in the spirit of equality and sharing.

Give women more opportunities to develop

From the project “Supporting female workers in difficulty to develop their family economy” of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Trade Union (TKV), the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao - a worker at the Life Workshop, Uong Bi Coal Company - has developed a stable economy from 100 Tien Yen chickens. Currently, the family's flock of chickens has increased to 360.

Ms. Thao shared: "Thanks to the attention of TKV Trade Union, my husband and I are determined to raise chickens and have re-raised the flock three times. This is a side job but the income from the chicken flock each year reaches 36 million VND, helping to improve the family economy."

The project “Supporting female workers in difficulty to develop family economy” phase 2, implemented since 2022, has helped households choose seedlings and livestock suitable to their circumstances. To date, 48 female worker households have received support, of which 36 households raise chickens, 9 households raise pigs, 2 households raise both chickens and pigs, and 1 household raises bamboo rats.

The total number of supported breeding animals includes 2,453 Tien Yen and local chickens, 23 pigs, and 50 bamboo rats. The corresponding support levels are 150,000 VND/chicken, 6 million VND/pig, and 250,000 VND/mice. The total cost of phase 2 is 621 million VND.

Up to now, 22 households have successfully restored their herds, bringing in revenue of 983.8 million VND with a profit of 362.8 million VND.

Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Chairman of TKV Trade Union - said: "Families receiving support for breeding animals and livestock all receive help in renovating barns, guidance on livestock farming techniques and attention from the grassroots trade union."

TKV Trade Union is currently surveying to continue implementing phase 3 of the project with 13 units and 73 female workers in difficult circumstances who have registered to participate.

Bringing rich "spiritual food"

Not only creating economic support, trade unions at all levels in Quang Ninh also constantly care for the spiritual life of female workers and civil servants with many forms and diverse activities.

In June 2024, the Quang Ninh Provincial Federation of Labor organized the program "Charming female workers on the edge of heritage" to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024). At the program, 20 female workers from grassroots unions shone in the traditional ao dai, swimsuit and self-selected costume competitions.

This is not only an opportunity to promote the beauty of the people and landscape of Quang Ninh, but also to honor the role and value of female workers in the country's development.

In Mong Cai City, on the occasion of the 114th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8) and in response to "Ao Dai Week", the Women's Committee - City Labor Federation mobilized and presented 720 sets of Ao Dai to female workers at enterprises in the area. The program not only spread the message "Ao Dai - Vietnamese cultural heritage" but also brought joy and solidarity to the working community.

These days, in the jubilant atmosphere of celebrating October 20 - Vietnamese Women's Day, trade unions at all levels in Quang Ninh province have directed grassroots trade unions to organize meaningful celebration programs for a large number of women, honoring women with outstanding achievements in their work.

Each activity is implemented to create more opportunities and support for women to shine. This is a source of encouragement and motivation to help women confidently rise up in life. Thereby, increasingly affirming the role of the trade union, an organization representing the voice of workers, especially female workers.
