The workshop was held in Da Lat city (Lam Dong province). Attending the workshop were Mr. Vu Hong Quang - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Legal Policy Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In addition, there were also representatives of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization, along with more than 60 delegates who are union officials of the Labor Federations of provinces and cities in the Southern region.
Mr. Vu Hong Quang informed that this workshop aims to evaluate the results of 10 years of implementing Decision 217-QD/TW, dated December 12, 2013 of the Politburo on the Regulations on supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and political organizations (Decision 217) of trade unions at all levels.
According to Mr. Vu Hong Quang, Decision 217, the Trade Union Law and related legal documents are the important legal basis for trade unions to operate. These regulations help trade unions to have more specific activities, closer to the lives of workers.
“This workshop is an opportunity for trade unions to evaluate the results achieved; point out the shortcomings, limitations and causes in the implementation of Decision 217 at all trade union levels.
At the same time, propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of implementing Decision 217; to promote the role of trade unions, representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers," Mr. Vu Hong Quang emphasized.
Delegates attending the Workshop focused on presenting, discussing, and sharing many good experiences and effective practices of trade unions at all levels from localities and bases.
Accordingly, in 10 years of implementing Decision 217, trade unions at all levels have chaired and participated in 143,735 monitoring sessions.
After monitoring, trade unions at all levels issued 408,601 petitions related to the regime, policies and benefits of workers. From there, the monitored agencies, organizations and individuals had 22,889 documents responding to the petitions of trade unions at all levels...
In the coming time, trade unions need to focus on monitoring the implementation of policies and laws directly related to the rights and interests of workers. Especially regarding wages, income, labor contracts; social insurance policies, health insurance, unemployment insurance, etc.
Along with that, trade unions at all levels focus on monitoring agencies, organizations and individuals in implementing policies on housing and cultural institutions for workers...
