On January 24, the last working day before the Lunar New Year holiday, at Tam Quan Garment Joint Stock Company (Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province), Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Huynh Thanh Xuan visited, wished a happy new year, and gave gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
This time, 130 workers and employees of Tam Quan Garment Joint Stock Company; An Phat Investment Joint Stock Company; Thanh Quy Import Export Company Limited received gifts. Each gift is worth 1.3 million VND, including 1 million VND in cash and a gift bag worth 300,000 VND.
Hoai Nhon is the northernmost land of Binh Dinh, where many garment and agricultural and forestry processing enterprises are concentrated. Over the years, these key production and business sectors have played an important role in creating jobs, creating export turnover, contributing to the budget, and promoting local socio-economic development.
Mr. Ly Nguyen Huy, born in 1998, is a worker at Factory 2, Tam Quan Garment Joint Stock Company. Having had an accident when he was young, he suffered from brain damage, limited labor productivity, and his income from salary is often low. At home, Mr. Huy's mother has asthma and his younger sister is still young. Family life is often difficult and struggling.
Holding the gift in his hand, Mr. Huy said he felt the weight of the union's affection. "More than the material value, the feeling of being understood and shared has a great effect of encouraging and supporting me," he said emotionally.
On behalf of the leadership of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President Huynh Thanh Xuan reported an overview of the socio-economic situation and trade union activities and workers' movements nationwide:
“In 2024, in the context of many places in the world facing war, political instability, and economic crisis, Vietnam continues to maintain its remarkable achievements. We achieved 15/15 socio-economic development targets, demonstrating the high determination of the entire Party, people, and political system.
In that common achievement, there is a silent but great contribution of the working class. With its functions and tasks, the trade union organization always accompanies enterprises and has full responsibility in representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers; regularly being close to, caring for, and promptly supporting those in difficult circumstances; closely coordinating with Party committees at all levels, authorities, and unions to do a good job of improving the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.
Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Huynh Thanh Xuan continued: "On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, trade unions at all levels continue to organize many diverse and practical activities such as "Trade Union Tet Market", the program "Tet Sum Vay - Spring Thanks to the Party"... The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has also advised the Party and State leaders to deploy activities to care for Tet for workers across the country".
