Towards workers
On November 28, Mr. Nguyen The Lap - Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor - said that trade unions at all levels are focusing on the year-end water-pulling emulation movement, and at the same time implementing a series of programs to care for workers' lives after the impact of storms and production difficulties.
According to the Provincial Federation of Labor, trade unions at all levels have organized many legal dissemination classes, fire prevention and fighting - rescue training, organized a "Safe Destination" program, and maintained direct support activities for disadvantaged workers in November.
In particular, due to the damage caused by storms No. 10-12, heavy rain lasting in late October and early November, the union has provided emergency support to 47 union members and 13 businesses with a total amount of 120 million VND. Hundreds of severely affected cases are also counted to continue to have support plans.
In addition, many social security programs were maintained such as "Union Meal", visiting seriously ill workers, work-related accidents, giving gifts to union members whose homes were on fire, fishermen's families in distress at sea, etc.
"We go directly to businesses to listen to feedback on life, salaries, and bonuses at the end of the year, thereby having a plan to protect union members' rights, especially in businesses facing difficulties after storms and floods and a slowing market" - Mr. Lap said.
Do not leave union members behind
Mr. Nguyen The Lap said that the Provincial Federation of Labor is focusing on developing a Plan to care for Tet 2026, considering this a key task from now until the end of the year.
"We ensure that Tet must come early for workers. Poor workers, people with serious illnesses, and families affected by natural disasters will be given priority for support. No union member is left behind, he affirmed.
In 2026, Quang Tri will continue to be allocated 1,200 support packages by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to participate in the "Union Tet Market", along with many welfare programs and discounts on essential goods for union members. Grassroots unions are also required to promptly review the list of union members in difficulty to promptly propose support.
The Provincial Federation of Labor will also coordinate with units to organize sessions of "Cashless Tet Market", "Zero-dong Market", mobilizing businesses to support Tet gifts and bus tickets for workers far from home.
Along with activities to care for Tet, the Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor said that in early 2026, the Trade Union will focus on 3 major groups of tasks.
When negotiating and signing High-Quality Collective Labor Agreements, the Provincial Federation of Labor requires grassroots unions to review all expired or shared collective labor agreements, thereby supporting businesses to sign new or re-sign, ensuring better benefits in terms of salary, benefits, shift meals, etc.
Monitoring unpaid wages and social insurance debts, this is a hot spot at the end of the year and the beginning of the year. The Provincial Federation of Labor carefully grasps the enterprises that owe wages and social insurance to propose handling. Do not let the debt stagnate for a long time, affecting the rights of workers.
Developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in qualified enterprises, the province is reviewing to strive to establish new unions in enterprises that do not have an organization, especially in the service - trade, construction and transportation sectors.
Mr. Lap said that 2026 will be a year of pressure for both businesses and workers, but also an opportunity for the Trade Union organization to affirm its role, especially in dialogue, negotiation and the protection of legitimate rights.
