On January 19, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance (SHI) coordinated to organize the donation of social insurance books and health insurance cards to the elderly, near-poor households, ethnic minority students and people in difficult circumstances in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City.
At the program, Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance coordinated to present 117 social insurance books to poor and near-poor households, 840 health insurance cards to near-poor households, the elderly, students and ethnic minorities in difficult circumstances with a total support fund of nearly 590 million VND sponsored by a number of units.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Luan - Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City - said that in Thu Duc City, there are still many cases with difficult circumstances, not having the conditions to participate in family health insurance, or participate in voluntary social insurance.
Especially the elderly, people from near-poor households, and households that have just escaped poverty, when sick or ill, have to pay all the medical examination and treatment costs themselves, which is very high, and the risk of falling back into poverty is very high.
The cooperation of the Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance Agency in giving social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances is a very meaningful act and will encourage and motivate people to overcome immediate difficulties, gradually stabilize their finances to continue participating in social insurance and health insurance for themselves, contributing to spreading and conveying the good values of the Vietnamese people.
