Timely intervention of the Trade Union
On the afternoon of November 4, a working delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), led by Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu - Vice President, together with leaders of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, visited and encouraged union members and workers affected by floods at 29/3 Textile Joint Stock Company.
Here, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu and leaders of the Da Nang City Labor Federation presented 30 gifts, each worth 2 million VND, to union members and workers of 29/3 Textile Joint Stock Company.
During the recent heavy rain, 29/3 Textile Joint Stock Company had 697 union members affected and suffered heavy property damage. The company's trade union has reported and proposed for the Da Nang City Labor Federation to promptly support.
Speaking after giving gifts, Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu said that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor sympathizes with business owners and workers after the huge damage and loss in the recent flood.
"What we are most happy and reassured about is that the Trade Union organizations at all levels of Da Nang city have quickly taken action to grasp and promptly encourage us mentally and materially to help workers overcome difficulties and losses, and soon return to work and daily life" - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor expressed.
On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor presented support to union members and workers in Da Nang city who suffered losses due to floods with a total amount of 1 billion VND.
Over 18 billion VND to support union members and workers
According to Mr. Le Van Dai - Permanent Vice President of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, during the rainy days, the City Labor Federation organized delegations to give gifts directly to union members and workers. At the same time, authorizing commune and ward unions to directly provide support funds from union organizations.
As of the morning of November 4, according to data reported by the facility, 9,300 union members and workers have been affected and damaged by floods and have requested support from the City Labor Federation. The main damaged cases are flooded houses, damaged equipment, household items and motorbikes that cannot be repaired.
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, in parallel with grasping the damage of union members and workers, the Da Nang City Labor Federation has also promptly issued 2 plans.
One is the plan to support union members and workers affected by floods with 2 million VND per person, which has been been urgently implemented by the Da Nang City Labor Federation for many days now.
Along with that is support to encourage forces to be on duty and rescue people and businesses in localities during floods.
The total budget that the Da Nang City Labor Federation has spent to support union members affected by floods to date is 18.6 billion VND.
The second plan is that the leaders of the Da Nang City Labor Federation will visit, encourage, and give gifts to support businesses that suffered heavy damage in the recent flood, mainly businesses operating in industrial parks in the old Quang Nam province. This plan began implementation on November 5.
