Support and accompany female union members to have a home
Ms. Nguyen Kim Thanh - Vice President of Vietnam Electricity Trade Union - said that the care for female workers in difficult circumstances has been paid attention to by trade unions at all levels in coordination with professionals throughout EVN Group. On the occasion of Workers' Month 2024, Vietnam Electricity Trade Union coordinated to organize a plaque-attaching ceremony and handover of the Union Shelter to the family of union member Phan Thi Thu Hien, of Nghe An Electricity Company Trade Union.
Ms. Hien is a single mother, taking care of and raising her son who is still in school. The two of them live in an old rented house. Through much saving, Ms. Hien was able to buy a small piece of land deep in an alley, near her workplace. Understanding Ms. Hien's situation, the Nghe An Electricity Company's Trade Union proposed that all levels join hands to support 60 million VND (Vietnam Electricity's Social Support Fund) and 30 million VND (Northern Electricity Corporation's Humanitarian Fund). With the supported money, combined with her own efforts and the help of her relatives... Ms. Hien has built her dream house.
From the Trade Union Shelter Fund of the Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, many families of female workers have more determination and motivation to build new houses, thereby feeling secure in living and working.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lieu (Trade Union of Truong Giang Kindergarten) and Ms. Giap Thi My (Trade Union of Minh Phuong Ngoc Hung Company Limited (Luc Nam District) inaugurated their new houses right before the Lunar New Year 2024 after the support from the Trade Union Shelter Fund helped them become more determined to realize their dream of a new house.
According to statistics from the Bac Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Federation of Labor has supported 32 female union members to build and repair Trade Union Shelters, with a total cost of 1,145,000,000 VND.
Realize your dream of being a bride
Leaving her hometown to start a career in Can Tho, female worker Truong Thi Mau (from Ca Mau province) couldn't help but be happy when she was one of the brides getting married in the collective wedding ceremony organized by the Can Tho City Labor Federation.
“Since joining the Union, in addition to general care activities, we female workers have also enjoyed many other benefits such as receiving gifts on March 8 and October 20. In particular, the Mass Wedding has helped me fulfill my dream that has remained unfinished for many years,” Ms. Mau shared.
For female workers, the wedding ceremony has helped to complete the marriage of the couple and it is also an encouragement for them to strive to produce, build family happiness and have more trust and attachment to the Trade Union organization.
Sharing the joy with his daughter, Mr. Truong Van Tham (Ms. Mau's father, Ca Mau province) said with satisfaction: "The wedding was cozy, simple but also had all the rituals. At this age, seeing my children happy in the wedding supported by the Union, I am both happy and grateful. Now I just hope that my children will be happy together, continue to strive for the future, be good workers, good union members."
The wedding ceremony has ended but the happiness is still there in the female worker Huynh Thi Xuong (Can Tho City). According to the female worker, everything in the wedding ceremony was neat and cozy, exactly as the couple had wished for many years.
“For me, a wedding is a big event but difficult to carry out due to family circumstances. The city's Trade Union helped me complete it with a collective wedding. That helped me deeply feel the Union's concern for union members and workers, always listening promptly, diversifying activities to care for us so that we can enjoy the best benefits. From now on, my attachment and trust in the Union will be even stronger" - the female worker confided.
Implement practical activities to care for female union members and workers.
According to Ms. Do Hong Van - Member of the Presidium, Head of the Women's Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in recent times, trade unions at all levels have implemented practical activities to care for female union members and workers. These include models such as "Union shelter", "Your health", "Mass wedding", "Breast milk storage room at the workplace", "Summer camp for children of workers and laborers", "Praising children of union members and laborers who study well and practice well"...
