Priority care for union members in remote areas

CÔNG SÁNG |

With mountainous terrain, based on the essential needs of union members and units, Quang Binh Trade Union has had practical care activities, especially for union members in remote areas.

Reaching out to people in difficult areas

In Minh Hoa district, realizing that people in some remote communes are still facing difficulties, in order to help households have conditions for health care, the Minh Hoa District Labor Federation has planned to organize free medical examination and treatment.

Selecting Ong Tu village (Trong Hoa commune) for implementation, the District Labor Federation coordinated with the District Health Center to organize propaganda and disease prevention for the people. The program presented 33 gifts to 33 households and conducted free medical examinations and medicine for more than 80 people with a total value of more than 10 million VND.

Also in this program, the District Labor Federation also conducted a survey of the self-flowing water system, providing domestic water for the people. From here, the unit has a plan to repair the self-flowing water system to ensure the supply of domestic water for the people.

In Tang Ky village, Lam Thuy commune (Le Thuy district), there are 70 households and 272 people. People basically live off the forests and mountains, living in clans and clusters, scattered across the area... life still faces many difficulties.

In mid-September, the Provincial Federation of Labor and other units came to work and survey the need for help and support here. The survey team expressed sympathy and shared the difficulties with the people and ethnic minority children in Tang Ky village, giving 70 gifts, each worth 100,000 VND to the children here to encourage their families and children to strive, overcome difficulties, actively study to improve their lives and study results, for the development of the village.

At the same time, the survey team also agreed to provide immediate financial support to help people build clean water projects and develop their family economy with about 100 million VND, contributing to increasing people's income to stabilize their family life.

Share with remote units

Vice President of the Quang Binh Provincial Federation of Labor Phan Thanh Lan said that last summer, union members and workers in remote areas of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park grassroots union were happy to welcome the Provincial Federation of Labor to visit and present equipment to support their work. These ranger stations mainly use solar power. In the dry season, the electricity is just enough, in the rainy season, there is little electricity.

Accordingly, the unit supported 3 Honda generators of 3kW and accessories for 3 Ranger Stations Cha Noi, Ranger Station 37 and Ranger Station U Bo, each worth 13.5 million VND; 3 sets of volleyball posts and nets for 3 Ranger Stations Dan Hoa, Khe Gat and Cha Noi, each worth 3.5 million VND.

The total support amount of 51 million VND is disbursed from the Social Fund of Quang Binh Provincial Trade Union.

Many units and grassroots unions also received attention from the provincial and local unions such as: Supporting 300 million VND for Truong Son Kindergarten; coordinating the construction of a dormitory for teachers and staff working in Lam Thuy commune (Le Thuy district) with a budget of 1.2 billion VND; coordinating with the Golden Heart Social Charity Fund and Lao Dong Newspaper to hand over and put into use a system of learning and playing equipment for children at Truong Son Kindergarten (Quang Ninh district), with a total support amount of 300 million VND...

"The activities and models of the Quang Binh provincial trade union have promoted the role and responsibility of trade unions at all levels; contributing to creating cohesion between the trade union organization and workers, civil servants and laborers" - Mr. Lan said.
