According to the Steering Committee for the implementation of the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene (OSH) of Vinh Long province, the Month of Action on USH and Workers' Month in 2025 will take place from January 1 to May 31, focusing on the core theme: "Strengthening assessment, controlling risks and proactively taking preventive measures to minimize occupational accidents and diseases".
Mr. Vo Van Tam - Acting Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Vinh Long province - said that in 2024, the whole province recorded 95 cases of work accidents, a decrease of 100 cases compared to 2023.
However, Mr. Tam also frankly pointed out the shortcomings such as the effectiveness of information, propaganda, and dissemination of laws on occupational safety and health is still not really extensive. Interest in this issue in some businesses, especially small-scale businesses, has not been as expected.
Understanding these concerns, many businesses in the province have proactively implemented measures to ensure safety for workers.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen - Director of De Heus Vinh Long Company - said that the company always attaches importance to the safety of workers. The company regularly organizes training on occupational safety and health measures, equips employees with adequate personal protective equipment and ensures strict implementation of periodic health check-ups for all employees.
Mr. Tran Van Binh, a worker in the shoe sole department, expressed: "Being fully equipped with knowledge and protective equipment not only helps avoid risks but also shows the company's respect for employees".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a worker at a garment company, hopes that the companies will continue to increase practical training sessions on labor safety and fire prevention, instead of only disseminating knowledge in a formal way.
Emphasizing the importance of occupational safety and health, Mr. Nguyen Van Liet - Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee - affirmed that the province has issued close instructions to departments, branches, sectors, unions and the business community on raising awareness for both employees and employers.
The important thing is to develop and implement specific, practical action plans, suitable to the actual conditions of each unit and each industry.
"The cooperation of the whole system will bring positive changes in caring for the lives and working conditions of workers, helping workers to be safe and work efficiency will reach a high level", Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee emphasized.
