US Judge Kathaleen McCormick set a trial date for October 17.
She had previously ruled to promote the procedures and began the trial in October. This is seen as a benefit for Twitter, despite the company previously requested an earlier hearing.
Elon Musk initially asked for a delay to the trial date until 2023.
To refute this, Twitter's legal team said that it is necessary to promote the case to " limit" damage to the company's business operations, as well as ensure that the deal can be completed before October 24. This is the time to end the free season according to the agreement that the two sides had previously agreed.
Twitter filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk in Delaware court in early July, seeking to force the billionaire to comply with a buy-back deal after he decided to terminate his contract.
Elon Musk's lawyer previously accused Twitter of "seriously violating many terms" in the settlement, saying the company did not provide data on the number of fake accounts on the platform that Mr. Musk requested to be known.
Trump's legal team said Musk's attempt to terminate his contract was "unfounded and wrong," the billionaire was using fake accounts as an excuse to try to escape the deal he had regretted.
At the same time, Twitter continues to discuss with shareholders. They have informed shareholders that the company will hold an internal meeting on September 13 to vote on this merger agreement.
