In January, Apple became the first company in the world to reach a market capitalization of 3 trillion USD. Although it fell to $2.25 trillion on October 9, it was still an extremely large figure, according to Apple Insider.
Apple's revenue is equally impressive in quarterly reports as the company continues to set new records. Analysts may have mixed results, but Apple has always impressed with quarterly revenue of up to billions of dollars.
As a technology giant, Apples billions of dollars in revenue could be more than what some countries have generated in the same period.
The figures are being used based on Apple's Q3 2022 results, which were released in July. Q3 results are not Apple's best results of the year. With high sales seasonality, Q3 results are usually the lowest in a fiscal year.
While it would be much more impressive to use Q1 results, as they are often significantly higher than Q3, the latest figures show how Apple has performed during its off-season.
Company's revenue at the national level
To determine how much Apple's revenue is, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 2021 will be compared.
The IMF's annual GDP figures are calculated in billions of dollars and can be downloaded from its Datamapper service.
In the third quarter of 2022, Apple reported revenue of $82.959 billion. If calculated by country, Apple's quarterly figure will be in 70th place, behind Oman's $83.6 billion and before Sri Lanka's $82.5 billion.
Apple's four-quarter revenue report is $387.5 billion. In the IMF's GDP list, Apple will qualify at 39th place, beating Malaysia ($372.7 billion) and just behind the Philippines ($393.6 billion) and Denmark ($395.7 billion).
In theory, Apple is on track to surpass some of the big names on the list, including Egypt (35th, with 402.8 billion USD) and the UAE (34th, with 409.9 billion USD). However, it is far from the largest economies today.
Apple's total Q3 gross profit was 35.9 billion USD, taking the company to 99th place, ahead of Sudan (35.151 billion USD) and behind Estonia (98th, 36.3 billion USD). Gross annual profit margin is 167.9 billion USD, between Algeria (58th, 164.6 billion USD) and Qatar (57th, 179.6 billion USD).
How big is iPhone revenue?
Based on each product, the iPhone continues to make the largest contribution to Apple's overall profits. However, other products are still having significant growth.
In the third quarter, Apple reported iPhone revenue of 40.665 billion USD, which would put Apple between Bolivia (94.9 billion USD) and Uganda (93.42.5 billion USD). Apple's total sales in the past 4 quarters were 201.1 billion USD, bringing iPhone revenue to the same region as Iraq's revenue (53rd, 209.5 billion USD).
The services branch's steady growth reached 19.6 billion USD in the third quarter, putting Apple between Brunei and Mali. The total in four quarters was 77.2 billion USD, between Bulgaria (ranked 71, 80.3 billion USD) and Ghana (ranked 72, 76.4 billion USD)
The wearables, home appliances and accessories segment reached $8.08 billion in Q3, between Canada (150th, $8.4 billion) and Guyana (151st, $7.6 billion). In the four quarters, the segment earned $40.4 billion, more than Bolivia and Uganda.
Both iPad and Mac models have Q3 revenue of $7.22 billion and $7.38 billion, behind only Somalia (151st, with $7.39 billion).
