According to international media, Apple's long-awaited Siri upgrade may turn this smart assistant into a chatbot more like ChatGPT. Sources say the Siri chatbot, expected to be integrated into the iOS operating system in the near future, may be the focus of Apple's WWDC presentation in June 2026.
The Siri chatbot, with the internal code name "Campos", will operate with both voice and text inputs. Apple's senior vice president, Craig Federighi, previously stated that he did not want Siri to become a chatbot, but instead, he wanted Apple's artificial intelligence options to be "integrated to be always ready when you need them". But it seems the plan has changed due to increasing pressure from the success of artificial intelligence chatbots from other companies.
Apple can also feel a potential threat because OpenAI is planning to penetrate the hardware field, led by Apple's former design director, Jony Ive.
Everyone knows that Apple is lagging behind in the artificial intelligence (AI) race. The company has repeatedly postponed the launch of "Siri is more personalized" and spent the whole year 2025 looking for AI partners, testing technology from competitors such as OpenAI and Anthropic for a potential deal. Finally, Apple chose Gemini of Google as its AI partner in early January 2026.
In another development, Apple is said to be developing a wearable smart device integrated with artificial intelligence. This device will be a pin that users can wear on their clothes, equipped with two cameras and three microphones.
Apple's device is described as a "thin, flat round disc with an aluminum and glass case", which engineers hope will be the same size as AirTag. This staple will also have two cameras (one with a standard lens and one with a wide-angle camera) for taking photos and videos, as well as a physical button, a speaker and a Fitbit-like charging strip on the back.
Apple may even be making efforts to accelerate the development of this product to compete with OpenAI's products. According to reports, this pin may be launched in 2027 with 20 million units from the launch date.
However, whether this Apple product is welcomed by the market or not will depend on the time. Previously, two former Apple employees established Humane AI, a startup company that also sold an AI integrated helmet pin.
Humane's helmet pins also included integrated microphones and cameras. However, it failed shortly after its launch, and the company had to shut down, selling its assets to HP for two years since the product was launched.
