While popular messaging apps like Signal, WhatsApp, and Viber all have deleted messages, there's nothing you can do on iMessage other than explain your message errors to the other person.
Therefore, in iOS 16, Apple introduced a feature that allows iMessage users to cancel and edit sent messages, with certain rules.
First of all, this is not a secret feature. If you cancel or edit the message, the recipient will be notified of the change if they also have iOS 16. If they are using an older version of iOS, they will receive another version of the message. Deleting the message will not remove the message from their device.
How to delete messages
- print and hold messages
- when menu opens, press "review messages"
- The message will be deleted immediately, with a "you have recalled the message" notification instead.
In the first version of the operating system, you only have 15 minutes to edit and recall printing messages.
How to edit messages
- print and hold messages
- When menu opens, press to edit
- edit corrections and stamp new confirmation messages
- If you want to see all edited messages, click on the "Edicted" section at the link below.
Apple gives you more than 15 minutes to edit your messages. If it takes longer, the edit option will not appear.
