Before the end of the year, Viettel has exceeded its commitment to build 20,000 new 5G stations

Viettel has just announced that it has reached the milestone of installing 20,000 new 5G stations in 2025, more than 3 weeks ahead of the plan committed to the Government.

It is expected that by December 31, 2025, the total accumulated number of Viettel 5G stations in the entire network will reach 30,000 stations, covering up to 90% of the outdoor area nationwide.

In early 2025, the National Assembly issued Resolution No. 193/2025/QH15 dated February 19, 2025 on piloting a number of special mechanisms and policies, creating breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.

According to detailed instructions in Decree No. 88/2025/ND-CP of the Government, the state will support businesses in deploying national 5G network infrastructure if at least 20,000 5G broadcasting stations are accepted and put into use from February 19 to December 31, 2025.

This is a special policy, aiming to create a breakthrough in national digital transformation, realizing the goal of advanced, modern digital technology infrastructure, nationwide 5G coverage by 2030 of Resolution 57-NQ/TW.

Surpassing the coverage

From now until the end of December 2025, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) continues to aim to exceed its commitment, installing 23,500 new stations, nearly 4 times the number of stations installed in 2024.

With the number of new deployments, Viettel will own the largest 5G network in Vietnam with a network of 30,000 stations, 5G coverage of up to 90% of outdoor area and 70% of indoor area nationwide, including areas from urban to rural areas.

Resolution 57 of the Politburo, focusing on promoting breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, has created a strong driving force for Viettel.

Viettel recognizes its responsibility and allocates all resources to deploy 5G network infrastructure widely as soon as possible, this is the technology platform to serve the Government, businesses and people in digital transformation effectively, affirmed Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group.

superior in technology

Not only achieving a large coverage area, Viettel's 5G network has outstanding advantages in modern technology. Viettel is the only enterprise to deploy the 5G SA (Standalone - independent) network as a complete 5G network, all core network components to radio broadcasting equipment are of the 5G network generation, capable of reaching speeds of up to 10 Gbps. In real-life use conditions, 5G speed is 15 to 20 times higher than 4G.

Some exclusive applications of 5G SA include: Network Slicing, which allows configuring a separate network for each customer group according to their needs, customers needing super low latency, private networks with high security capabilities for security and defense; District healthcare takes advantage of extremely low <1ms and high reliability (99.9999%); Smart city and smart factory connect millions of IoT devices in one km2 to operate sensors, real-time monitoring and automation.

Viettel has also integrated the self-rduced and self-produced 5G ecosystem into the general infrastructure nationwide on a large scale, including the 5G gNodeB transmission station, the 5GC core network system and the vOCS 4.0 calculation system. This has contributed to bringing the total number of 5G stations above the set commitment level, while affirming the high-tech capacity that Viettel has invested in researching over the years.
