PitchBook data shows that Skild AI is only three years old and was valued at 4.7 billion USD in May after raising 500 million USD in a raised round led by softBank with the participation of LG Technology Ventures, Samsung, Nvidia and a number of other investors.

Unlike many robot startups that are heavily invested in, Skild AI does not develop its own hardware. The company focuses on building a platform model that can be customized for many types of robots and diverse usage situations.

In July, Skild AI introduced the prototype of the Skild brain multi-purpose robot with videos showing the robot picking up a plate and moving on the stairs. The company has signed a cooperation agreement with LG CNS and Hewlett Packard Enterprise to expand the technology ecosystem.

Investors' interest in the field of AI-based robots continues to increase strongly. Physical Intelligence, a company that is developing control models for many types of robots, is said to have raised $600 million with a valuation of $5.6 billion led by CapitalG. An investor evaluated the project but did not participate in confirming that the product was still in the initial development stage.

The human-shaped robot market is also more vibrant. Figure has raised more than $1 billion with a valuation of $39 billion in September. 1X Company is also negotiating to raise up to 1 billion USD with a valuation of 10 billion USD according to The Information.
