Facebook has just announced an old but new feature for the iPhone and Android apps, helping users view posts in order of time instead of content suggested by algorithms.
After more than a decade of using News feed to display the top article by default instead of time-locking, Facebook has returned to the original design.
In the latest update, the Facebook app on iOS and Android will be divided into two tabs: Feeds and Home.
Scraping down to the Facebook homepage is sometimes very messy - you can't find the post you've seen before and you're " bored" by the content that's often unrelated. But, in the end, things are changing.
In a Facebook post, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the platform is rolling out a feature that allows users to customize and control the content they watch.
The Feeds card will be where users can see posts by friends, pages, groups... in order of time. The All category will show you posts from all your data sources.
Users will find feed in their shortcut. On iOS, it is located at the bottom of the app and on Android, at the top.
Users can also create a Like list - where they can select up to 30 friends and pages - but they cant add any groups to that list.
Additionally, the Photos and Services will not be notified if you add or delete them, and you can manage your list at any time.
Here's how to install it:
Select Favorites on your Feeds tab and click on Favorites Management.
Click the Add button to start creating your list. You will see a black star below the chose friends or page.
To delete friends and page from your Favorites, click on the three-dots on the right of their name. Then, select Delete from the Favorites section.
With the launch of Feeds, the main tab you see when opening an application is now called Home.
An interesting thing is that the Home tab has a symbol of a green house, this is not a new creation but is meaningful to users.
According to The Next Web, the Home card provides a personalized bulletin board, where Facebook's "discovery tool" suggests content that it thinks users will be most interested in besides posts from the person they are following. Users can customize feed cards, such as adding priority people and pages, unfollowing, reconnecting with people who have unfollowed...
It seems that Facebook is trying to expand its reach and get closer to TikTok. The new feature has been available to some users since July 21 and is expected to launch globally next week.
