Samsung has announced plans to launch a tri-fold smartphone later this year. However, up to now, some detailed information about this product is still kept secret. However, according to Korean media, the price of this phone model will be cheaper than previously rumored.
Accordingly, Samsung's first tri-fold smartphone will cost around 2,440 USD in the domestic market, instead of the previously forecast price of 2,718 USD. Of course, this price does not change too much, but anyway, saving a few hundred USD could be a factor that attracts more consumers than buying a product when it is officially launched.
Samsung often offers free memory upgrades when launching new phones, so users can get more storage at the same price when a foldable smartphone is launched, at least in the first few weeks. Samsung's tri-fold phone is expected to launch with a large 10-inch screen, a larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, currently Samsung's flagship phone.
Previously, international sources emphasized that Samsung's tri-fold smartphone was only launched in a few countries, such as Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan (China) and possibly the UAE. Other markets, including Europe and North America, have not. This reflects Samsung's caution towards a product that is quite new to consumers.
Samsung's tri-fold smartphone has not yet had an official name, it could be TriFold, G Fold or Multifold. Samsung is said to be producing only 50,000 tri-fold phones, which shows that they are not very optimistic about the sales outlook, as demand in this market is still not really clear.
Before Samsung, Huawei launched a tri-fold smartphone with 2 product lines in 2024 and 2025 and was quite well received in the domestic market.
As for Samsung, they have an advantage over Huawei in terms of popularity. In the third quarter, Samsung led the global smartphone market, accounting for 19% of the market share.
