Google is said to be preparing to launch Nano Banana 2 Flash, a new AI image creation model in the Flash product line that is famous for its fast response speed and low data processing capability.
If the leak is correct, this will be the next version of the current Nano Banana Flash and will likely be provided free of charge to users, rather than just included in a paid package like Nano Banana Pro.
According to a report by TestingCatalog, Google has entered the final stages of the Nano Banana 2 Flash release process.
In the code of the Gemini app, the research team discovered direct references to this new version.
Nano Banana Pro has the internal code name "Ketchup", while the code name "Mayo" appearing in recent builds is said to be for Nano Banana 2 Flash.
Some social media users have even said they have been given early experience, suggesting that the model may have been tested within limited limits.
Although Google has not yet announced detailed technical specifications, observers believe that Nano Banana 2 Flash will continue to focus on the Flash line, which is to prioritize low latency, faster shutting speed and optimize processing costs.
This means the model may not focus on high detail like the Pro version, but in return it brings the ability to create super-fast photos and consume less resources.
Google can take advantage of this to expand the free package, bringing the finite- limitations for Pro users to the popular user group.
In addition, Google's NotebookLM platform, which is using Nano Banana Pro to create a stylish image, is also expected to benefit.
If Nano Banana 2 Flash is included in the free list, many NotebookLM users will be able to access the photo creation feature that was previously only available in the Google AI Pro version.
However, Google will likely apply certain limits to avoid overloading resources.
Notably, some images shared on X ( Twitter) are said to be products of Nano Banana 2 Flash.
These models show that the photo quality of the new Flash version is not too inferior to the Pro version as many people think.
The initial testing team said that performance and stability were significantly improved, especially in rapid took-out tasks.
Google is still silent and has not made any official announcement.
However, evidence from internal source code, findings from TestingCatalog and early user experience suggest that the launch date may be very close.
If widely deployed, Nano Banana 2 Flash promises to bring faster, lighter, and more accessible AI photo creation options on the Google ecosystem.
