Google tests replacement of Im Feeling lucky button with AI Mode on the Search page

Google is testing a new design for the Search engine homepage.

In which, the AI Mode feature - an artificial intelligence application tool launched by the company in early May was included to replace the Im Feeling lucky button below the search bar.

A Google representative confirmed to The Verge - the first unit to report the change, that the test has been rolled out to some users. However, it is unclear whether this feature will be widely popular.

The Im Feeling lucky button is a long-standing feature on the Google homepage, appearing since the early years of the launch of this search engine.

When a user hits this button after entering the keyword, instead of displaying the search results list as usual, Google will move straight to the first page in the result - the page that Google says is most suitable for that search.

The initial purpose of the Im Feeling Lucky button is to help users save time if they believe the first result is what they need. However, due to changes in how users search and the emergence of advertising, AI and other enhanced features, this button is increasingly unused and is at risk of being replaced.

The move comes just a week before the Google I/O event, where the company is expected to announce a series of important updates related to the AI- integrated search engine.
