Google said that Gemini for smart homes has now become a complete AI platform, combining the Google Home control system and Gemini's artificial intelligence features.
Accordingly, Google expands the program to integrate Gemini into household appliances, helping hardware manufacturing companies significantly shorten the time to research and develop AI products.
Google will provide partners with proven prototype designs, including processors, sensors and microphones. As a result, businesses can quickly mass-produce and launch devices such as cameras or Gemini integrated smart speakers.
In addition to hardware manufacturers, Google also wants carriers, Internet providers and security businesses to integrate the Google Home Premium AI service package into their products.
Google Home Premium is priced from 10 USD/month or 100 USD/year for the basic package. The advanced package has double the fee. Users who subscribe to Google's AI Pro package will receive the basic package, while the Ultra package comes with access to the advanced package.
Previously, Google had continuously put Gemini on many of its products. Last year, the company also redesigned the Google Home application with a focus on AI assistants. The application currently has a "Ask Home" button, allowing users to ask Gemini directly.
The expansion of the Gemini program for smart homes is expected to promote more new AI devices to be launched in the near future. For those who do not want to depend too much on Gemini, platforms such as Home Assistant or Apple HomeKit are still popular alternatives.
