In the latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg author Mark Gurman said that the second generation of Apple Vision Pro is expected to hit the market between fall 2025 and spring 2026.
This information is relatively consistent with previous reports, although somewhat less optimistic.
Previously, supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that Apple has postponed plans to launch a low-cost version of Apple Vision and will instead focus on the second-generation Vision Pro version, expected to launch next year.
Apple plans to upgrade the Vision Pro 2 from the M2 chip to the upcoming M5 chip, bringing significant performance improvements.
Apple introduced the first-generation Vision Pro with the M2 chip at the time, but the M3 and M4 chips were quickly released, making the $3,500 device look a bit dated.
Currently, according to Bloomberg, the second-generation Vision Pro will likely have a design similar to the current version.
The main changes will be on the inside, including processor upgrades. Apple recently introduced new Wide and Ultra Wide screen options for Mac Virtual Display in visionOS 2.2, which was highly appreciated by many users.
With Apple scrapping plans for low-cost hardware, it's clear that the company will need to focus on compelling software features to keep the Apple Vision Pro relevant in the market.
