Meta first introduced AI Studio at Meta Connect last fall. However, they have only recently started testing creator-made AIs, with some prominent Instagram users.
According to Meta, the AI created by the creator aims to solve a problem that exists for Instagram users with a large number of followers: not being able to keep up with the huge amount of messages they receive every day.
Now, they can create “an extended version of themselves,” according to Connor Hayes - VP of AI Studio Product at Meta.
“These creators can use comments they have written, descriptions they have created, transcripts of Reels (Instagram videos) they have posted, as well as any custom instructions or what link they want to provide... so AI can answer on their behalf," Hayes replied to Engadget.
Mark Zuckerberg shared that he has big ambitions with these chatbots (AI chat boxes). In a recent interview with Bloomberg, he said he expected there would be "hundreds of millions" of AI created by creators on Meta's applications.
However, it's unclear whether Instagram users will be interested in interacting with AI versions of their favorite creators. Meta has tested AI chatbots of stars like Snoop Dogg and Kendall Jenner, but those "characters" failed to impress. Those chatbots have now been removed, according to The Information magazine.
