Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced the Edits app on the Threads platform, describing it as a tool for “people who are passionate about creating videos on their phones.”
“There’s a lot going on right now, but no matter what, our mission is to provide the best tools possible for creators,” he added, referring to TikTok’s controversy in the US.
According to Mosseri's post, the Edits app will bring features such as: a separate inspiration section to help users find creative ideas; an idea management section to track personal ideas; a higher-quality camera for video recording; a suite of editing tools; the ability to share drafts with friends and other creators; easy video export to Instagram and powerful analytics tools for Reels content.
Meta isn’t revealing any more details about Edits at this time. The company says the app has been in testing with creators recently and will share more in the coming weeks.
Edits is available for pre-order on the App Store starting today and is expected to launch on iOS in February, according to Meta.
