Digital transformation is the foundation, an inevitable trend
Speaking at the Conference on the implementation of the plan to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation in the agricultural and environmental sector (NNNMT), Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy affirmed that science, technology and innovation are the inevitable trend, the core driving force to promote sustainable development in the agricultural and environmental sectors.
According to the minister, the agricultural and environmental sector is facing many challenges related to climate change, resource degradation, population pressure and increased demand for agricultural product quality. In that context, only the proactive application of science and technology, gradual digital transformation and improving research qualifications can help the industry overcome challenges and move towards modernization.

"To change the situation, to improve productivity, quality, and added value of products, to protect the living environment for today and future generations - we must innovate thinking and working methods, take science and technology and digital transformation as a foundation for development," Minister Do Duc Duy emphasized.
There is still a lot of work to do
The Minister also said that in recent times, the agricultural and environmental sector has made many efforts and initiatives to apply technology - from high-tech agricultural models, smart livestock, to environmental monitoring using sensors, building digital maps, land, forest and meteorological databases. These are positive changes in the industry, but to determine "breakthrough and development" as required by Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, we still have a lot of work to do.
At the conference, Minister Do Duc Duy also pointed out 5 groups of tasks that must be done in the coming time so that the agricultural and environmental sector can have more breakthroughs, including overcoming institutional bottlenecks, reviewing and proposing immediate amendments to regulations to remove and completely cut down on administrative conditions and procedures to promote the development of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, production and trade of products. Do not let policies slow down the progress of innovation.
At the same time, reorganize the organizational system, ensure "streamlining, compactness, strength, efficiency, effectiveness, and efficiency", comprehensive digital transformation in the entire industry and ministry; digitize right from the time of document development to practical production, ensure all activities are digitized and comprehensively traced.
Comprehensively change the way of placing orders, assigning annual scientific and technological tasks, in which scientific research must come from practical production requirements, providing solutions, products for production, commercializing products, improving quality, safety and value of products.

Identify areas with strong development potential such as biotechnology and genetic technology to create breakthroughs in agricultural production seed sources, taking advantage of the world's and our country's good and rare seed technologies and sources to improve and serve production.
The most important thing is that high-quality human resources must be comprehensively reviewed, ensuring that human resources are of good quality, skilled, good at their profession and have a lot of experience to meet the requirements of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. In particular, there should be mechanisms and policies to attract domestic experts, overseas Vietnamese experts and especially from the private enterprise sector to join hands and work with the Ministry and the sector to successfully implement the Resolutions and Plans issued.
