The tool was developed based on OpenAI's Sora model, which allows creating short videos from text description. The feature is now available for free on the Bing app for mobile devices, and will soon be available on the PC platform as well as the Copilot Search tool.
Over the years, Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in OpenAI to support the company's AI projects. After integrating the DALL-E photo creation tool into Bing in 2023, adding Sora to create videos is considered a reasonable next step.
However, Sora is not uncompromising. Since its launch, the model has been met with backlash from YouTube's CEO when he was accused of using the platform's videos for training, along with opposition from some early testing users.
However, Sora was still widely released at the end of last year. Currently, the tool is also facing fierce competition from other video creation AI models, such as Google's Veo 3 - which has more complex features.
