Google Apps Summit 2025 - The first regional-scale unified conference just ended in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on the afternoon of November 12. For the first time, Google combined three major regional events including Playtime, Think apps, and apps Summit into a consistent experience taking place on November 11 and 12.
The event brings together more than 700 application developers and senior leaders from Southeast Asia, India, China, South Korea, Australia and many other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The conference focused on the future of the gaming and application industry, in which Vietnam is a highly appreciated market.
According to Mr. Marc Woo, General Director of Google Vietnam, the application economy is forecast to reach a scale of 750 billion USD by 2030 globally. The Asia-Pacific region leads this growth momentum, becoming the world's largest and most dynamic growth hub in mobile application revenue and download. The strong breakthrough has been driven by a 4-fold increase in app downloads over the past 5 years, especially thanks to the rise of emerging markets such as Vietnam.
According to data from AppMagic, Vietnam is currently leading the Asia-Pacific region with a 65% increase in revenue from the gaming and application segments, recording the fastest growth rate in the region. The application developer in Vietnam is gradually affirming its position on the global technology map.
In 2024, games and applications developed by Vietnamese developers reached more than 6 billion downloads with 5.7 billion from international users. This means that nearly 12,000 downloads of Vietnamese applications are recorded per minute.
The Google Play ecosystem plays an important role in promoting the growth of Vietnam's digital export economy. Through this platform, domestic developers have brought in more than VND2 trillion in revenue from international users, while creating about 490,000 direct, indirect jobs and related industries, including equipment manufacturing (OEM).
Vietnam is not only an emerging market, but has become a global application powerhouse. The impressive export revenue that domestic developers have achieved has proven the outstanding talent of the Vietnamese programming community, said Mr. Marc Woo.
According to Mr. Woo, organizing the first unified regional conference in Vietnam affirms Google's commitment to this dynamic ecosystem, while giving Vietnamese developers the resources, connectivity opportunities and necessary AI toolkits to continue expanding their position in the international market.
