From July 6, technology car company Grab announced that it will start increasing the additional fee with the reason "Hated hot weather" for customers traveling on two wheels.
In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Grab collects an additional 5,000 hotline fees for each GrabBike trip and each GrabFood and GrabMart order. This additional fee for GrabExpress service is 3,000 VND per order.
In other markets such as Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Hue..., the additional fee for hot weather with GrabBike and GrabFood services is 5,000 VND. The fee will be added directly to the fare displayed on the receipt when the driver receives the trip.
Grab explains the increase in fees to support drivers in harsh hot weather, somewhat reducing the hardship for drivers. This is also the first ride-hailing application to apply such a hot weather addition policy.
Normally, car companies only apply a fee for the Lunar New Year with a fee of 10,000 VND to 15,000 VND or a night fee for each order and trip.
However, Grab's increase in fares with many reasons such as rain, traffic jams, hot weather... is currently causing many frustrations for customers.
The move to add additional fees for "hot hot weather" is considered one of many fees that customers using Grab services have to bear.
Previously, Grab had collected additional fees from customers for rush hour loops, late night loops, loops during traffic jams, flooding, Lunar New Year...
In addition, GrabBike comes to pick up customers, if they have to wait more than 5 minutes, Grab also collects additional waiting fees of about 2,000 VND from customers.
Many people also expressed their concerns and wondered what weather conditions are considered hot weather to calculate fees, because Ho Chi Minh City has 2 rainy and sunny seasons, what is called harsh sunshine. Grab's announcement did not specify what the temperature threshold was, which was considered a severe heat.
In addition, when customers have to wait for the driver for a long time, who will be fined, will customers be fined from the driver or Grab?
Although considering the fee increase unreasonable, users admit that when calling a technology car, Grab gives a higher car acceptance rate.
At times when the weather is unfavorable or there are traffic jams, catching a lift from Grab, whether it is 2 wheels or 4 wheels, still gives you more waiting time and receives the lift faster.
