iPhone 17 Air - the super thin iPhone model is said to have entered the first phase of deployment.

Digitimes reported that the ultra-thin iPhone model - iPhone 17 Air has entered the first stage towards production. That is the new product introduction stage.

This is the time when Apple and its suppliers work together to evaluate the feasibility of the proposed design for manufacturing. Product engineers at Apple work with manufacturing engineers at Foxconn to evaluate the manufacturing methods needed to assemble the device.

Often, very minor changes to the product design can be made at this stage to accommodate manufacturing capabilities.

After this stage, a small-scale pilot production line will be set up.

New Product Introduction (NPI) is a management process used to develop and introduce a new product to the market. It is an important stage in the product life cycle, especially in the manufacturing, technology, electronics and related industries.

Previously, Bloomberg author Mark Gurman revealed that the iPhone 17 Air will be 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro. While the iPhone 16 Pro is 8.25mm thick, the iPhone 17 Air will be only 6.25mm thick.

If this information is correct, the iPhone 17 Air will become the thinnest iPhone model ever, surpassing the record of the iPhone 6 with a thickness of 6.9mm released by Apple in 2014.
