In recent days, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (Hanoi) has continuously received information related to subscriber confirmation on VNeID before the June 15th milestone.
Initially, he thought that this regulation only applies to newly registered subscribers or cases with unusual signs. "I have been using this phone number for more than 10 years, so I thought it was probably not related. It was not until I saw many people share about checking on VNeID that I tried to check," Mr. Thanh said.
After logging into the application, Mr. Thanh discovered that in addition to the phone number he was using, there was also another subscriber in his name but he had not used it for a long time. "I was quite surprised because I didn't think there was still a phone number associated with my personal information. If I didn't check, I wouldn't know if it was in the area that needed confirmation or not," Mr. Thanh said.
Ms. Thu Ha (Hai Phong) said that only recently did she really pay attention to regulations related to subscriber confirmation. "I thought it would take a long time to affect it. When I read the news, I saw that there were only a few days left until June 15th, so I took the opportunity to go to VNeID to check all phone numbers that are in my name," Ms. Ha shared.
Still tens of millions of subscribers have not confirmed their status
According to information from the Telecommunications Authority, there are currently more than 1.6 million numbers confirmed by users not to be used by their own owners. Meanwhile, there are still about 25 million subscribers who have not been confirmed status on VNeID by users. The Telecommunications Authority said that this is currently the biggest obstacle in the process of implementing Circular 08/2026/TT-BKHCN.
According to regulations, by June 15, 2026, subscribers who have not confirmed will have their departure service temporarily suspended, including making phone calls and SMS messages to other subscribers.
However, the general review process is still being implemented, so there are currently no accurate statistics on the percentage of subscribers who have completed confirmation.
The Ministry of Science and Technology requests people to proactively access VNeID, check phone numbers that are in their names and carry out confirmation according to instructions to avoid affecting communication after June 15.
