According to data from Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), the number of cyber attacks in Vietnam has decreased for four consecutive years from more than 60 million in 2021, more than 40 million in 2022, more than 29.6 million in 2023 and more than 19 million in 2024.
“After many years of continuous efforts, Vietnam has made remarkable progress and is gradually completing the cybersecurity goals set by the Government in 2025, which is to monitor and ensure information security in cyberspace.
Vietnam's efforts have also been recognized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) through the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 with an impressive score of 99.74," commented Mr. Yeo Siang Tiong, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky.

However, despite the progress and achievements in national cybersecurity, Vietnam continues to face the problem of fake attacks and fraud on online websites. It is estimated that in 2024, Vietnamese people will lose VND18,900 billion due to fraud, according to a report by the National Cyber Security Association.
“In Vietnam, one of the common cyber attack methods that hackers often use is non-social attack techniques. Based on personal information shared by users on social networking platforms, malicious actors will create various scam scenarios, aiming to trick victims into thinking that they will receive attractive benefits from websites that already contain malicious code,” said Mr. Yeo.
Cybersecurity experts recommend that organizations and individuals strengthen their protection against cyber threats using a variety of measures.
For individuals:
- Limit downloading and installing applications from unreliable sources; regularly update software with the latest updates to ensure maximum device safety.
- Be cautious about requests for personal information from strangers and limit sharing personal information in any form.
- Be cautious when clicking on any links from unknown sources or suspicious online advertisements.
- Create strong, unique passwords with a combination of lowercase, uppercase, numbers, punctuation, and special characters; and enhance security by setting up two-factor authentication
- Use reliable security solutions to keep your systems and devices safe.
For organizations:
Use strong passwords to access the business's service system; regularly check and install new updates to fix security vulnerabilities; deploy protection solutions for businesses; regularly update the latest information from Threat Intelligence to understand the tactics, techniques, and processes used by criminals, thereby preparing more effectively against attack risks; increase cybersecurity training for employees...
