Apple's October event could focus on Mac products

Apple doesn't always hold an event in October, but when it does, it's usually focused on Mac products.

Apple is expected to introduce new Mac models with M4 chips and updates for iPads as early as October.

Here's what Apple has been holding in October over the past few years:

October 30, 2023: Event to introduce new MacBook Pro and new iMac, using M3 chip.

October 18, 2021: Launch event of 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.

October 13, 2020: iPhone 12 and HomePod mini announcement event.

October 30, 2018: Event to introduce new iPad Pro, MacBook Air and Mac mini.

October 27, 2016: Launch event of new MacBook Pro line with Touch Bar.

Observers say Apple's October event will focus on Macs as Apple begins to transition to the M4 chip.

Apple is expected to update the entire Mac lineup to the M4 chip. The MacBook Air, Mac Studio, and Mac Pro are expected to launch in 2025.

After updating the iPad Pro in May, Apple is working on upgrades to the base iPad and iPad mini, both of which are likely to be announced in October, in preparation for the holiday shopping season.

In addition to new hardware, iOS 18.1 and Apple Intelligence are also expected to launch in October. Apple could hold a special event to once again promote its foray into artificial intelligence — a move investors would certainly appreciate.
